For this Palouse Falls engagement session, we had a blast exploring the area (Safely). We had to reschedule our first session due to high winds, but were NOT disappointed by the St. Patrick’s day weather that stormy day. Laura and Mike were happy to explore the area around the falls as we set off on our little hike. The Palouse area is incredible, especially if you’re a bit of a geological nerd like me. The formations are so different from Western Washington, but stunning all the same. I also fell in LOVE with the stormy weather we had all day. I’m actually more partial to stormy clouds with a chance of rain, then a lot of sunny days… especially when the sun breaks through and gives us an incredible rainbow and sunset like this day did!
Also, I do want to give a bit of a plug for SAFETY while taking folks out hiking for shoots. I do it a lot, and try to always make sure that who I’m photographing feels comfortable with where I ask them to stand. If the winds had been any higher, we would NOT have attempted that edge of the cliff shot above the waterfall. They were safe, but it definitely requires being aware of your surroundings (myself included) and the conditions you’re in. All in all, we had a fantastically fun, safe day with beautiful weather, and AMAZING company. And, we got a little bit of fresh air and exercise out of the adventure as well ;)
